Post Covid, Government focussed on providing jobs: Hemant Soren

238 students from Kalyan Gurukul Jamshedpur and Khunti get appointment letters 

Ranchi, October 5: “After successfully battling Covid pandemic second wave, state government is now focussed on providing job. The government is taking many steps to provide employment to the youth on a large scale in the government and private sectors,” announced Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren.

Speaking during a function to hand over appointment letters to 238 youth trained in Kalyan Gurukul, Khunti and Jamshedpur on Tuesday at Ranchi, Hemant Soren said, “The Jharkand Public Service Competition (JPSC )exam pending for almost 5 years was successfully taken. Action is also being taken to fill other vacant posts including 700 teachers and 500 posts in MNREGA. Prior to this, the process of direct appointment of about 600 doctors, 24 sports officials, 40 players has been completed. Apart from this, 150 youths got permanent jobs in ACC company and 200 girls working in other states were linked to employment in textile industry in their own homes. More than 900 girls were trained and made nurses.”

 Soren further said that for the last one and a half years, the country and the world have been disturbed by the Covid-19 epidemic.

“Like other states Jharkhand’s system also came to a standstill during this period as we had to face the second wave of Covid pandemic. But, during this challenging period, work was done to connect all the needy including villagers, farmers, youth, deprived, unemployed and women with the government schemes. Especially, during the lockdown, stranded in other states the migrant labourers were not only brought back by planes and trains, but many new schemes were started for them for free food and employment, so that their morale remains up. The result of the better management of our government was that no one died of hunger during the lock down,” said Soren.

The chief minister also underlines government initiatives to make rural youth self-reliant.

“There is talent in the youth of the state and it is being refined and linked with employment. The government is working towards making the youth of rural areas self-reliant. For this, many schemes like Chief Minister Employment Generation Scheme, Phoolo Jhano Ashirwad Yojana, Birsa Harit Gram Yojana and Shaheed Poto Photo Ho Khel Maidan Yojana are being run under MNREGA. The government is committed to ensure that maximum people get the benefits of all these schemes,” said Soren.

The Chief Minister said that there is immense potential in the field of nursing.

“There is a great demand for nurses in the country and abroad. In such a situation, the government has opened the door of admission in nursing for men also. The youth are urged to take nursing training,” added Soren.

The Chief Minister said that the government is running many training programs for the skill development of the youth. In Kalyan Gurukul also, training is being given to the youth in various trades. Their placement is also taking place here.

“With this they will stand on their own feet and contribute in making the family and society stronger and better. With this, more and more rural youth will be inspired to join these training programs. Youths who have taken technical or industrial training. If they want to become self-employed, then the government has also started a scheme to provide subsidy based loans up to Rs 25 lakh for them. They can open their own units and shops etc. by taking advantage of this scheme,” said Soren.

 The Chief Minister expressed hope that these trained youth would open the door of employment not only for themselves but also for others in the coming days.

Appointment letters were given today to 238 students of Kalyan Gurukul Khunti and Jamshedpur run by PreJHA Foundation (Pan IIT Alumni Reach for Jharkhand Foundation is a joint venture between Pan IIT Alumni Reach for India Foundation and agencies of welfare department, Jharkhand).

These include 174 students from Scheduled Tribes, 7 from Scheduled Castes, 51 from OBC and 6 from minority communities.

All these students have been placed in reputed companies like Shapoorji Palanji, Automotive Excel and Vilas Javedkar. All these students have received training in construction and electrician trade in Kalyan Gurukul. It is worth noting that in Kalyan Gurukul, students are trained in trades like fitter, welder, carpenter, plumber and apparel, along with placement arrangements are also made. At present, 9 skill development colleges and 28 Kalyan Gurukul training centers are being run by PreJHA Foundation in the state. From here, more than 15,000 youth have been linked with employment in the country and abroad.
