Jamshedpur, May 18: Residents of Jamshedpur and surrounding areas found respite from the oppressive heat on Saturday as the region remained under cloudy skies throughout the day. A slight drizzle in the morning further alleviated the discomfort. Despite the cloud cover, Jamshedpur recorded a maximum temperature of 37 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 22.8 degrees Celsius.
However, other parts of Jharkhand continued to grapple with a heatwave, with Garhwa district registering the highest temperature at 42.7 degrees Celsius, while temperatures in six districts soared above 40 degrees Celsius.
Looking ahead to Sunday, the forecast predicts a continuation of cloudy conditions with the possibility of rain in several districts. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions in Garhwa, Palamu, Deoghar, Jamtara, Dumka, Godda, Pakur, and Sahibganj districts.
Additionally, rain is expected in Godda, Sahebganj, Pakur, Dumka, Deoghar, Giridih, Koderma, Jamtara, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Ranchi, Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti, Simdega, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela–Kharsawan districts on May 19, offering relief from the prevailing heatwave conditions.
