People are with me, not afraid of envelope: Jharkhand CM Hemant 

CM, Guruji celebrate Sohrai at maternal grandparents house in Chandil

Ranchi, Oct 27: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren reached his maternal grandparent’s house in Dhatkidih under Chandil block of Seraikela-Kharswan district on Thursday to celebrate Sohrai festival.

 At around 01: 43 in the afternoon, CM Hemant Soren arrived by helicopter with his father and JMM supremo Shibu Soren. After landing from the helicopter, the CM was given a guard of honour. After that the feet of CM and Guruji were washed by tribal customs. Then on reaching the village from the helipad site, the women of Nanihal welcomed them with traditional customs and entered the house.

Hemant Soren, who reached his maternal grandmother in Chandil, said on the politics of the state regarding the closed envelope, he said that the envelope should remain closed. Will see when it opens. By the way, JMM is ready for every struggle. He said that when the people of the state are with him, then there is no need to worry about any envelope. During this, he appealed to the people to celebrate Sohrai and Mahaparv Chhath with pomp.

Significantly, Election Commission has sent an opinion on chief minister’s office of profit case to the Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais on August 25. Though neither Governor nor ECI has made pubic the opinion, there was buzz that the EC has opined for disqualifying the assembly membership.

The Governor has said that it was his prerogative to take action on the EC opinion.

The CM, who reached his maternal grandmother on the Sohrai festival, was seen playing the drum himself. During this, the Guru also joined the Khutan. Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that we have reached maternal uncle’s house to celebrate Sohrai festival with our family and observing the festivity after a span of two years of Covid pandemic restrictions he was trying to refresh childhood memories. It is said that it is a traditional festival. People reach their respective villages.

In Dhatkidih, the villagers gave a grand welcome to the Chief Minister on the beat of the drum and temple with tribal customs. Chief Minister Hemant Soren stayed in his maternal grandmother for about two hours. There is a custom of eating jaggery pitha and peeled pitha especially in Sohrai festival.

Hemant Soren spent about two hours with his maternal uncle and siblings.

Guruji Shibu Soren was also given a grand welcome by traditional customs. The in-laws presented new clothes. After this CM and Guruji Shibu Soren left for Ranchi by helicopter

Before going Hemant Soren said that social harmony is maintained through festivals. Through this, unity is maintained in the family.

“People in Santhal community enjoy the festival together, talk about happiness and sorrow,”said Soren.

Chief minister’s mother Rupi Soren, wife Kalpana Soren and Dumka MLA Basant Soren’s wife Malti Soren and family children also reached to see Goru Khuntan a tribal ritual.

After Chief Minister Hemant Soren and JMM supremo MP Shibu Soren returned to Ranchi, other family members enjoyed Goru Khuntan.
