Pending civic projects anger Jamshedpur East MLA

Jamshedpur, Dec 31: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy held a review meeting for the progress of development plans of his constituency.

 In the review meeting, the MLA found that there are about 86 schemes of roads, streets, drains, culverts, sewerage etc. in the area which are pending, work on which has not started. In these schemes, there are Rs 11, 14, 23, 793 schemes of Urban Development Department and MLA Fund and many schemes of 15th Finance Commission on which work has not started.

The MLA expressed displeasure that there are seven schemes for 2020-21 whose work has not started even after signing the agreement. Similarly, there are many plans for 2021-22 too, on which work has not started. He asked the Special Officer of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee to give notice to the contractors within four days as to why they have not started the work. If their answer is not satisfactory, then blacklist them and inform all the departments and municipalities that they are blacklisted.

Roy wanted to know the reason for such large number of schemes implemented in his constituency of any department  have been pending.

He also asked the special officer of the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee to take action against the contractor for poor cleaning system in the area and provide a copy of the agreement signed with all the cleaning contractors and asked for a list of how many cleaning workers each contractor has to hire. He expressed concern over the non-completion of cleaning work in Baridih’s Bhojpur Colony even after four days of efforts.

Expressed displeasure over not repairing the bad street lights and highmast on time. He asked the Special Officer that the recommendation to install 4,000 new street lights in the constituency has been made a year ago but no street lights have been installed anywhere. On this, the official told that the outstanding amount of the company which installed street lights has been paid, so it will start the work of installing 4000 street lights from next month.

The MLA asked JNAC official to hold a review meeting with TSUISL within a week to take forward the work of Moharda drinking water project and start its second phase and prepare a plan for proper drainage system. Instructed to prepare a plan for the development of the nearby areas along the banks of the river and present the proposal.
