Jamshedpur: Diehard Madhuri Dixit fan Pappu Sardar, known to spread joy and undertake various social awareness drives on many occasions, was, since midnight of December 24, seen going around town dressed as Santa Claus in his sledge-designed scooty. He had a large bag in one hand and a bell in the other as he approached new spots dancing to the rhythm of popular Christmas number, Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way

Pappu Sardar distributed happiness from his bag of joy at Golmuri Church, Sakchi roundabout, near the JNAC office, Basant Cinema Chowk, cot market and various spots in Bistupur.

He gave away sweets and gifts that included chocolates, various types of sweetmeat, pens, pencils and toys. People of all ages who flocked around him radiated joy on their faces.

On the night of December 24 as the time of Christs arrival in the midst of mortals drew near, Pappu distributed more than 100 blankets among pavement dwellers to offer them warmth in the bone rattling cold.

Santa Claus also gifted blankets to the cleaning staff of JNAC. While giving away gifts and entertaining people he imperatively gave the message of cleanliness and stressed its importance. People of all ages vied with one another to take photographs of him as also selfies with Santa Claus.

Talking to this correspondent, Pappu Sardar said, Serving the poor and destitute is the purpose of my life. I have distributed blankets among the pavement dwellers who have been braving winter with thin and torn clothes.

The smiles on the faces bring sunshine in my life and soul. As I distribute sweets and other gifts among people while dressed as Santa Claus, I feel so happy because the people respond to me with love.
