Over 80 join diabetes awareness initiative at CSIR-NML Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: A medical camp and diabetes awareness programme was organised at CSIR–National Metallurgical Laboratory on April 15 to promote early detection, preventive care and awareness about diabetes and related health conditions.

The inaugural session was attended by Dr. Ram Kumar, Head of Internal Medicine and Diabetes at Spand Multispeciality Hospital; Dr. Ajay Gupta, former Head of ENT at TMH Hospital; Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director, CSIR-NML; Dr. Priyanka Singh, Medical Officer; and Jay Shankar Sharan, Controller of Administration.

Dr. Chowdhury stressed the importance of regular health check-ups and timely diagnosis. Dr. Ram Kumar delivered an awareness lecture on diabetes and provided medical consultations to participants. Dr. Ajay Gupta spoke about common ear, nose and throat-related issues and their treatment.

The programme also included one-on-one consultation sessions, where participants received personalised medical advice. Several diagnostic tests were conducted, including Pulmonary Function Test (PFT), Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH), Random Blood Sugar (RBS), FibroScan and Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments.

More than 80 beneficiaries availed the services during the camp, reflecting enthusiastic participation. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Jay Shankar Sharan.
