Maestro Salil Bhatt Enchants Jamshedpur Public School

Jamshedpur: Internationally acclaimed virtuoso Pandit Salil Bhatt captivated students and teachers at Jamshedpur Public School on Wednesday with a soulful rendition of Raga Parameshwari. SPIC MACAY organized the event as part of its ongoing mission to introduce India’s rich cultural heritage to the younger generation.

Bhatt performed on the Sattvik Veena, a unique instrument synonymous with his artistry, holding the audience spellbound with his nuanced expressions and technical finesse. Noted percussionist Pandit Kaushik Konwar provided rhythmic support, adding significant depth to the performance.

During the session, Bhatt discussed the intricacies of Indian classical music and explained the essence of Raga Parameshwari. He shared that he learned the raga from his grand guru, the legendary sitar exponent Pandit Ravi Shankar, who originally composed it. Bhatt also treated the audience to glimpses of other ragas, further enriching the musical experience.

Bhatt revealed that he inherited and honed his distinctive playing style under the guidance of his father, the Grammy Award-winning maestro Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt.

School Principal Namita Agrawal thanked SPIC MACAY and the artists for bringing such a profound cultural experience to the campus. She highlighted the event’s value in connecting students with India’s timeless artistic legacy. The Jamshedpur chapter of SPIC MACAY, including key coordinator Bharati Banerjee, ensured the successful execution of the programme.
