Ranchi: In a recent development, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Ranchi has refused to grant bail to Heera Devi and Shakuntala Kumari, both wives of PLFI (People’s Liberation Front of India) supremo Dinesh Gop. The special court of NIA rejected the bail applications filed by the two, who stand accused of handling the levy and recovery funds on behalf of Dinesh Gop.

The charges against Dinesh Gop involve depositing recovery amounts from levies into bank accounts under the names of fictitious companies. The petitioners’ lawyer sought bail on the grounds of the duration of their judicial custody. Notably, both Heera Devi and Shakuntala Kumari have been in jail since their arrest on January 30, 2020, in connection with the Bedo police station case number 67/2016.

The NIA took over the investigation of this case in 2018 and has been actively presenting evidence related to the allegations. Dinesh Gop, the PLFI supremo, was also arrested by the NIA on May 22 in connection with the same case. The denial of bail underscores the seriousness of the charges and the ongoing investigation into the alleged financial irregularities involving the PLFI leadership.
