Naval Tata Hockey Academy’s Grassroots Hockey Festival concludes

Team Pokhari emerges champion

Jamshedpur, May 30: Naval Tata Hockey Academy (NTHA), Jamshedpur, concluded its much-anticipated 8-day Grassroots Hockey Festival 2025 under the aegis of Hockey Association of East Singhbhum with a vibrant and engaging closing ceremony held at its premises.

The event celebrated the spirit of grassroots sports and the commitment of young athletes, coaches, volunteers, and supporters who made the festival a grand success.

The festival, which brought together four enthusiastic teams – Patamda, Pokhari, Birsa Nagar, and Parsudih – aimed to provide a platform for budding hockey talents to showcase their skills and ignite their passion for the game.

In the awards segment, Team Pokhari emerged as the Champion, putting on a dominant display throughout the tournament. Team Patamda secured the 1st Runners-Up position, followed by Team Birsa Nagar as the 2nd Runners-Up. The Fairplay Award was presented to Team Parsudih for exemplifying sportsmanship and integrity.

Individual accolades were also presented to players for their outstanding performances:

Best Scorer of the Festival: Naman (Team Patamda). Best Player and Emerging Player Awards were given to top performers from each team, recognizing skill, consistency, and growth.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Chandreyee Majumdar, Vice President of Hockey Jharkhand and Secretary of Hockey Association of East Singhbhum, who praised the efforts of NTHA in nurturing grassroots talent and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in building the future of Indian hockey. She was joined by Gurmeet Singh Rao, Project Director of NTHA and Manjit Singh, who graced the ceremony as the Guest of Honour.

As part of the closing celebration, certificates were distributed to all dedicated volunteers whose tireless support ensured the smooth execution of the event. Coaches who trained, guided, and mentored the players throughout the festival were felicitated for their commitment and impact.

Speaking at the event, one of the grassroots coaches shared heartfelt remarks on the importance of continuous grassroots development and the long-term vision of Naval Tata Hockey Academy in shaping young players.
