Jamshedpur, Sept 27: A sense of shock gripped Tatanagar railway station on Saturday morning after the body of a 31-year-old woman was discovered in an air-conditioned coach of the Ernakulam–Tata Express.
The deceased was identified as Anjali Mardi, a resident of Mahulia in Ghatshila, East Singhbhum.
According to sources, Anjali, who was married, had been working in Andhra Pradesh and was on her way back home when her health reportedly deteriorated mid-journey.
Railway police suspect that she may have died due to sudden illness.
On receiving the information, the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) reached the coach, took possession of the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination after completing all legal formalities.
Fellow passengers were questioned, but none could provide any clear details about the circumstances leading to her death.
The body was brought down at Tatanagar station, and her family members were informed.
However, no relatives had reached the station till afternoon.
The incident triggered panic and speculation among passengers on board.
Police have launched a probe to ascertain the exact cause of death and rule out any foul play.
