Tata Steel Sports chief Mukul Choudhari Elected President of District Chess Association

Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum District Chess Association (ESDCA) held its Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) and triennial elections on March 27, 2026, at the Tata Chess Centre within the JRD Tata Sports Complex. Thirty-five members attended the session to chart the association’s course for the next three years.

Leadership Transition and Future Planning

Mr. Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, President of ESDCA and Chief of Sports at Tata Steel, presided over the meeting. In his opening remarks, he thanked the members for successfully conducting various tournaments throughout the year and outlined a strategic roadmap for upcoming competitions.

The assembly reviewed and unanimously passed the previous AGM minutes and the Secretary’s report, presented by outgoing Secretary Mr. N. K. Tiwary. Mr. Jayant Kumar Bhuyan, acting as Treasurer, presented the audited statement of accounts, which the members also approved unanimously.

Election Results (2026–2029)

Mr. V. Rama Krishnan, Senior Manager of Sports at Tata Steel, served as the Election Officer for the new committee. The newly elected executive body will serve a three-year term from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2029.

Outgoing Secretary Mr. N. K. Tiwary delivered the vote of thanks to conclude the AGM. Notable attendees included Mr. Rajesh Das (Vice President, Tata Motors) and Capt. Manish Sinha (HOD Sports, Tata Steel). The association also named several permanent invitees to the committee, including Vini Bhagat, R. C. Singh, and Ajit Mashi, to support the growth of chess in the district.
