Chaibasa, June 28: The Sadar Mukhiya Sangh has lodged a complaint with the Chief Minister concerning the alleged indecent behavior of the MNREGA Ombudsman, Aruna Abhakar, towards a woman chief in the district. In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, the Mukhiya Sangh expressed their dismay over the treatment meted out by the district’s MNREGA Lokpal to the woman Mukhiya when seeking information related to their work. The Lokpal, citing tribalism and backwardness, reportedly made derogatory remarks and relieved the woman Mukhiya of her post.
The Mukhiya Sangh emphasized that people’s representatives have the responsibility of conveying the thoughts and issues of the public to the appropriate authorities. However, the alleged conduct of the MNREGA Lokpal has created an environment of insecurity among women public representatives. The Lokpal’s remark during a photo session, where he referred to a woman Mukhiya as a “beautiful lady with spectacles” standing next to him, has left the chiefs shocked and outraged. Considering the importance of the MNREGA scheme and its impact on the lives of the beneficiaries, the Mukhiya Sangh has urged the Chief Minister to initiate a thorough investigation into the Lokpal’s behavior and take appropriate legal action. This step is crucial to ensure that people’s representatives can execute the scheme fearlessly and ensure its benefits reach the deserving individuals.
