Jamshedpur, Jan 7: Panic gripped the Dimna Chowk area on Wednesday evening after a moving Maruti Dzire suddenly caught fire under the Ulidih police station area.
Within moments, the flames intensified, completely gutting the car.
Thanks to the driver’s presence of mind, all occupants managed to step out in time, averting a major tragedy.
No injuries were reported.

Eyewitnesses said thick smoke began billowing from the vehicle, alarming passers-by.
The driver promptly pulled over to the roadside and ensured everyone exited safely before the fire engulfed the car.
The blaze was so intense that the vehicle was reduced to ashes within minutes.
On receiving information, Ulidih police rushed to the spot and alerted the fire department.
A fire tender arrived shortly thereafter and brought the flames under control after nearly 20 minutes of effort.
The incident led to severe traffic disruption at Dimna Chowk, with long queues of vehicles forming on one side of the road, causing inconvenience to commuters.
Police personnel struggled to regulate traffic and restore normal movement.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, though a short circuit is suspected to be the trigger.
Police said a detailed technical examination would be conducted once the vehicle cools down, and further investigation is underway.
