Money matters in BJYM president’s post, audio viral

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, March 26: At a time when verbal, political barbs are being exchanged between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Bharatiya Jantantra Morcha (BJM) on issues of corruption and illegal modes of wealth accumulation, an audio of a BJP Mandal president has gone viral in which talk of money exchanging hands for a top party post has been recorded. Perhaps senior party officials are aware of the recorded conversation but no action has been taken by the party that claims to be the most ethical and disciplined political entity. Murmurs are doing the rounds among members within the party.

The recorded conversation that has gone viral is between BJP Sonari Mandal president Prashant Poddar and a member of his unit Nitish. Prashant is heard asking Nitish why he told Dipak Nag that the Mandal president had been paid Rs 5,000 when the actual amount was Rs 2,000? Prashant is also heard advising Nitish not to discuss the matter as it was a secret. “Instead, tell him that he did not meet the president.”

In the viral audio, Prashant is heard stating, “You spread the word that the post of BJYM Mandal president’s post will go to a member of the general category (caste). From now on, if anyone asks you anything about the money matter, tell them that you have never met the president because if one wants a party post he has to have money power and numbers.” It is being gathered from the conversation that the whole game is for the Mandal’s youth president’s post and Prashant is trying to convince Nitish that he will get the post. Prashant is also being heard statiting that he would soon ‘shunt’ Dipak.

The 3 minutes 45 seconds audio has raised whispers and murmurs among a large number of BJP members.

It may be mentioned that there had been tremendous internal bickering over Prashant Poddar’s nomination as Sonari Mandal president and the formation of his committee. Prashant with scant respect for party protocols named his committee whimsically which BJP Mahanagar president Gunjan Yadav refused to accept. The tug-o-war continued for quite some time after which Prashant had to reconstitute his committee and only then was it accepted.
