Jamshedpur MP pushes Rs 482 cr plan for platforms, loop lines at Tatanagar

MP seeks approval for Rs 800 cr rail projects in Tatanagar

Railway Minister seeks shorter route plan for Tata–Jaipur Train

Demand Grows for Bengaluru Train from Tata

Jamshedpur: Member of Parliament (MP) Bidyut Baran Mahato met with Vikas Jain, Executive Director (Public Grievances) of the Railway Board, following the special session of Parliament, to discuss issues related to Jamshedpur and Tatanagar railway infrastructure.

During the meeting, Jain referenced a letter from the railway minister to Mahato, noting that the Railways is fast-tracking the development of new rail routes around the Tatanagar/Jamshedpur area. The minister’s letter specifically mentions the construction of the fourth and fifth railway lines between Pandrasali and Kandra, as well as the development of a satellite station near Tatanagar. Final Location Surveys (FLS) for both projects have already received approval.

Infrastructure Approvals and Vande Bharat

Mahato also urged the swift approval of two major pending projects –

  1. The construction of four additional loop lines and platforms at Tatanagar Railway Station, estimated at Rs 482 crore, will be executed via the Gati Shakti initiative.
  2. The construction of a Vande Bharat Coach Depot, estimated at Rs 383.78 crore, is currently pending with the Railway Board.

Jain assured the MP that both matters have been brought to the railway minister’s attention and will be approved soon.

Updates on Tata-Jaipur and Antyodaya Express

When asked about the progress of the direct Tata-Jaipur train service, Jain explained that the railway minister had suggested revising the current proposal. The minister has requested a plan for the shortest possible route, noting that the current proposal is too long and time-consuming.

Regarding the Antyodaya Express, Mahato reiterated his demand to resume operations with a mix of general and reserved category coaches. He argued that this balanced composition would make the train service more profitable. Jain confirmed that the Railway Board is seriously considering this suggestion.

New Bengaluru Service Demand

The MP also demanded an additional train service from Tata to Bengaluru via Kharagpur, Bhubaneswar, Andhra Pradesh, and Katpadi. Jain stated that the railway administration is currently evaluating the feasibility of running a train on this specific route.

Following the meeting, Mahato expressed confidence that all major railway projects are progressing rapidly. He stated that Tatanagar Railway Station and its passengers would witness a radical transformation in the near future.
