Jamshedpur: With winter intensifying, the Mango Municipal Corporation has started lighting bonfires across key public locations to provide relief to residents and commuters during late-evening and early-morning hours.

Under the directives of Deputy Municipal Commissioner Krishna Kumar, bonfires were lit at six points, including Mango Chowk, Dimna Chowk, Pardih, Azad Nagar police station, near Hira Hotel and the MGM area. Officials said the initiative will be expanded to additional intersections from tomorrow.

The Municipal Officer stated that the arrangements aim to prevent any cold-related distress or untoward incidents. “Regular bonfires at major squares will help the public cope with the biting cold,” an official said.

Local representatives, including the area MLA’s delegates, as well as municipal officers and staff, were present during the implementation of the initiative.
