Minister Banna Gupta, Jamshedpur MP inaugurate Kadma Ganesh Mela

Jamshedpur, Sep 7: The Ganeshotsav Mela at Kadma began with a grand inauguration by Health Minister Banna Gupta and MP Bidyut Baran Mahto jointly on September 7.

Following the inauguration, thousands of devotees poured into the fairground. They first offered their prayers to Lord Ganesha at the Ganesh Puja and then explored the various attractions of the festival. The vibrant and festive atmosphere set a lively tone for the 16-day celebration.

The festival kicked off with the Ganesh Puja on September 7, highlighted by the Kalash Sthapana ritual conducted by priests from Parvatipuram, Andhra Pradesh. Prominent figures such as former Chief Minister Arjun Munda, MLA Saryu Roy, former DIG Rajiv Ranjan Singh, and social worker RK Sinha attended this ritual.

Earlier on Sep 6, Odisha Governor Raghubar Das had inaugurated the Ganesh Puja pandal, marking the 106th edition of the festival organized by Bal Ganpati Vilas, a prominent South Indian community group in Jamshedpur.

The Ganeshotsav will feature various activities, including a special food service at Bistupur Antyodaya Ashram on September 14 and a Mahabhog on September 21. The festival will culminate with a grand immersion procession on September 22, starting from Kadma Rankini Temple and proceeding to the Kharkai River via Gopal Maidan and Bistupur.

This year’s fair promises an array of attractions such as electric swings, break dance swings, Tora Tora rides, and more. After the immersion of Bal Ganpati, the festivities will continue with Durga Puja celebrations across Jamshedpur, maintaining the city’s festive spirit.
