Jamshedpur, Sep 7: The upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) scheduled for Sunday at Hotel Wave International is expected to be contentious. President Sanjay Sahay is likely to face criticism over the controversial selection process for new members and the membership status of former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Tensions have risen following the JSCA management’s decision to allow committee members to appoint two new members each. This move has sparked accusations from former state cricket players and officials from 24 local clubs, who view it as an attempt to introduce outsiders into cricket, bypassing merit and dedication. These critics argue that this decision is a tactical manoeuvre to influence the upcoming elections. Complaints against President Sahay have already been filed.

Moreover, speculation regarding Dhoni’s membership has intensified the debate. According to JSCA rules, a member’s status can be revoked after missing five consecutive AGMs. Dhoni has been absent from the last five meetings, raising questions about his membership. However, some JSCA officials suggest that Dhoni, due to his international cricket career, may receive leniency regarding this rule.
