Jamshedpur : A middle-aged woman died in an elevator mishap at a residential apartment at Ulyan under Kadma police station area last night.Injured after being trapped Kumari Mahto (48) was rushed to Tata Main Hospital where she died after an hour. The incident has taken place on the third floor of Syndicate Colony near Neel Pukhur in Ulyan.
The victim who was a resident of Mohan Path in adjoining Bhatia Bustee would work as a maid at flat No 1932 at the house of Vijay Jha, a bank employee. She was trapped between two grilled door of the lift. The lift had come down unusually and got trapped between the second floor and third floor where the woman kept screaming. The victim’s daughter, Mamta (20) was also working at the same residence.
The victim was rushed to Tata Main Hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries in an hour. The police observed that the mishap took place due to some mechanical snag in the lift.
“As per our initial probe the mishap took place due to a mechanical snag in the elevator. We are probing into the incident having summoned some lift mechanics for assisting them,” said Kadma police station OC, JK Thakur. Thakur also said that the probe into get more effective when they will get the post-mortem report.
“It was really very tragic. The lift might have got suddenly functionally due to the mechanical snag after the victim had partially entered into the lift,� said a resident. The elevator, made of Hi-Tech Companywhere the mishap took place.
