Jamshedpur, Aug 24: The Meteorological Centre has issued a warning of isolated heavy rain in Kolhan during the next 48-hours. ” As per our study the deep depression was moving slowly towards the west northwestward direction. This will impact Jharkhand’s weather,” said a duty officer.
Satellite pictures suggested that several districts like Sahebgunj, Godda, Pakur, Dumka, Jamtara, Deoghar, East Singhbhum and adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan were expected to experience heavy rain today. The rains will be accompanied by gusty winds blowing at a speed of 40-50 Kmph.
The Met office also issued heavy to very heavy rainfall alerts in places located in north-eastern, central and southern parts of the state tomorrow while it issued heavy rain forecasts in a few isolated places in central, northern and western parts of the state on Wednesday.
The wind pattern is helping in cloud formation, leading to monsoon showers. Last year, the southwest monsoon hit Jharkhand on schedule. But the state was deprived of rain in the initial days due to a weakening of the monsoon trough. Statistics available from the Patna Met office revealed monsoon was delayed in two consecutive years � 2005 and 2006.
The Met department indicated improvement in the weather condition from tomorrow. �The depression, which originated from Bay of Bengal, is hovering near Dumka. It is moving towards the northwest. The depression is also gradually becoming weak,� said an official of the regional meteorological centre at Alipore in Bengal.
�The monsoon trough is active and is expected to bring more rains this month. The meteorological observations reveal that the steel city would witness more rains than the average this year,� said an expert.
