Meaningful dialogue marks World Philosophy Day celebration at Jamshedpur Co-operative College

Jamshedpur, Nov 21: Jamshedpur Co-operative College (JCC) celebrated World Philosophy Day with a symposium on the theme “Society and Philosophy in the Context of Present and Future Humanity.” The event saw participation from students, faculty members and NCC cadets, making it an engaging intellectual gathering.

The program was presided by Principal Prof. Amar Singh, who emphasized that “philosophy is not merely theoretical but provides practical guidance for life.” Citing the courage of Maharana Pratap and the patriotism of Babu Veer Kunwar Singh, he highlighted how Indian philosophical traditions illuminated the ideals of humanity, duty and truth.

Keynote speaker Prof. S.P. Mandal discussed the literal meaning of philosophy, its historical evolution, its relevance in contemporary society and its significance for the future of humanity.

A speech competition was also organized during the event. The jury panel comprised Dr. Ashok Rawani, Prof. Neeta Sinha and Prof. Sanjay Nath. The results were (First Place) Soren Purty, (Second Place) Ritesh Sharma

And (Third Place) Himanshi. Commendation Awards: Vishwajeet and Geetika Goswami.

The program was conducted by Dr. Antara, while Dr. Pascal Beck welcomed the guests. Delivering the vote of thanks, Dr. Dumrendra Rajan remarked that “philosophy forms the foundation of humanity’s bright future.” The event concluded with active participation and meaningful discussions, marking a successful observance of World Philosophy Day.
