Chaibasa: Maoists Govindra Gagrai alias Ranvir Patro and his wife Shanti Kandulna alias Alvin surrendered before West Singhbhum SP Chandan Jha on Sunday. The surrender took place at the district police headquarters. The two were in contact with the district police ever since they decided to lay down arms and join the social mainstream. They had got married in 2016. A reward of Rs 1 lakh each was announced by the police for giving clues about their whereabouts. Cash assistance of Rs 50,000 each was given to them. Another sum of Rs 1 lakh would be given to their family members, police said.
Sources said Shanti and Govinda were associated with top Maoist leader Samarjee alias Anmol Da alias Lalchand Hembram.
