Will strive to make Jamshedpur more modern and smarter: Chandrasekaran

Jamshedpur: Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran said that the company would strive to make Jamshedpur more modern and smart. “Jamshedpur is an important city for the Tata Group and Founder’s Day function is a significant platform from where we can take a pledge to unitedly take this city forward”, said Chairman N. Chandrasekaran while addressing the people of the city at Postal Park after paying homage to Founder JN Tata on his 180th birth anniversary.

“Jamshedpur will always remain a special city for the Tata Group and it is also the first smart city of India from the time when there was no concept of smart city and no one knew this word in the country. Tata Group, Tata Steel and local community will work together to ensure growth of the company, city and the community”,  the Chairman added.

Chandrasekaran also felicitated mountaineer Bachendri Pal who was recently awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian award. He termed the Everester as a role model of the youth in general and women in particular. 

He later met the Tata Workers Union officials and appreciated their role in better coordination in union-management relations. Chandrasekaran said that this tradition should continue. The Chairman arrived at Tata Workers Union office at 10 am and also inaugurated an exhibition on 100 years of the Union. The Tata Sons chairman also visited Tata Motors plant and paid floral tributes to the Founder. He also met retired Tata Motors officials.
