Jamshedpur: Manipal Tata Medical College has achieved a significant milestone in environmental conservation by receiving the prestigious Green Campus Silver Certification. This recognition celebrates the college’s commitment to sustainable practices, including: Energy Conservation: Installation of solar energy systems and energy-efficient appliances. Water Conservation: Implementation of rainwater harvesting and water recycling facilities.
Waste Management: Segregation and systematic disposal of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. Green Cover Expansion: Extensive tree planting and maintenance of lush green areas on campus.
The certification underscores the college’s dedication to not only academic excellence but also environmental stewardship.
As part of its commitment to societal and environmental responsibilities, Manipal Tata Medical College also launched the Green Initiative and released its first community souvenir, “Manipal Tata Medical College Beacon,” in a grand event.
Justice Navneet Kumar of Jharkhand High Court graced the occasion as the chief guest. Smita Pankaj, Regional Chief Conservator of Forests, attended as the special guest.
The event aimed to: Raise awareness about environmental protection. Provide health services to underserved communities. Encourage students to actively participate in community service.

Justice Navneet Kumar highlighted the importance of balancing humanity’s relationship with nature. He remarked, “If we do not maintain this balance, future generations will face severe consequences. Manipal Tata Medical College has set an example of how institutions can lead in environmental protection.”
He also praised the release of the “Beacon,” emphasizing its role in spreading awareness and inspiring community service among students.
Smita Pankaj emphasized the collective responsibility of environmental conservation, stating, “Protecting the environment is not just the government’s job but a moral duty for every individual and institution.” She commended the college’s initiatives as a model for others to follow.
The souvenir “Manipal Tata Medical College Beacon” highlights the college’s exemplary efforts in community service and environmental conservation. The Managing Director of the college described the “Beacon” as a source of inspiration, remarking, “This souvenir reflects our achievements and our unwavering commitment to society and the environment.”
