Jamshedpur, Mar 8: Under the direction of deputy municipal Commissioner Krishna Kumar, a special program was organized to celebrate International Women’s Day. On this occasion, the Sub-Urban Commissioner extended his heartfelt wishes to all women employees and members of self-help groups working within the Municipal Corporation, applauding their contributions and wishing them a bright future.
Assistant Municipal Commissioners Arvind Prasad Agarwal and Aaqib Javed honoured women who had excelled in utilizing government schemes by presenting them with mementos. The event also included a celebratory cake-cutting ceremony and the distribution of sweets among the women attendees.
Women who had strengthened themselves and their families financially through self-employment by availing loans under Day-NULM (Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihood Mission) and DJAY, those who benefited from the PM Swa Nidhi scheme to expand their businesses and those who secured employment through the Chief Minister Shramik Yojana were specially recognized. Symbolically, key beneficiaries such as Geeta Munda (Chief Minister Shramik Yojana), Jayawanti Tirkey (PM Swa Nidhi Yojana) and Kavita Shetty, Poornima Gop and Kanti Devi (Day-NULM) were honoured by Assistant Municipal Commissioners Arvind Prasad Agarwal and Aaqib Javed.
During the event, the Assistant Municipal Commissioner highlighted the transformative impact of these government schemes, emphasizing how they have empowered women financially and helped them become self-reliant. The honoured women shared their inspiring journeys, describing the significant improvements in their lives after availing the schemes. They expressed their gratitude, calling these initiatives a boon for their livelihoods.
It was noted that more than 10,000 women are currently benefiting from schemes like DAY-NULM, PM Swa Nidhi and the Chief Minister Shramik Yojana. Deputy Municipal Commissioner Krishna Kumar extended his best wishes to all women employees of the Municipal Corporation, including City Managers, COs, CRPs and other officials. The event witnessed active participation from women employees, City Mission Managers, self-help group members and municipal staff, making it a meaningful celebration of women’s empowerment.
