Mahila Bank is a step towards economic empowerment

Jamshedpur, April 25:Bharatiya Mahila Bank Ltd inaugurated its Jamshedpur branch, the 58th branch of the Bank in the country on Saturday, April 25.

Usha Ananthasubramanian, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharatiya Mahila Bank Ltd. On the occasion she said that the Bank is making optimum use of technology to ensure that Banking services are made available quickly and easily to all customers, including those in remote pockets.

The technology model of the Bank has helped in increased efficiency and productivity, she said adding that the Bank offers more than 40 products within 16 months of its operations.

The Bank offers women centric products like BMB Annapurna- Catering Service Loan, BMB Parvarish- Child Day Care Centre Loan and BMB Shringaar- Beauty Parlour Loan etc besides the traditional products, she said.

Bank’s MoUs with organisations like BharatiyaYuva Shakti Trust (BYST) and other organisations of repute encourage women and youth to start enterprises. SME Easy Loan for the Small, Medium enterprises and Micro Credits, loans to Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) are also offered by the Bank.KomalKali, is the unique Recurring Deposit Product to empower the girl child and helps her take up economic activity as she turns 18. BMB Money Box helps children get into the savings habit.

The Chairman and Managing Director said that the Bank has entered into MoUs with New India Assurance Company Limited and Life Insurance Corporation of India to provide insurance cover to its accountholders under PradhanMantri Jan Suraksha BimaYojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevanjyoti BimaYojana schemes respectively. The Bank has already introduced insurance products like BMB Nirbhaya, BMB Sakhee specially designed for women.

The Bank will soon launch m-Xpress, the mobile banking service to reach the unserved as well as the tech savvy customers, the Chairman and Managing Director said. BMB Smartbanking, the internet banking facility of the Bank, has several value added features.

Clear narration for all financial transactions, transaction password changing by customers themselves in an easy and quick manner are some of the attractive features. Hi Speed SMS Banking and Hashtag banking help the customers avail of various services like balance enquiry, mini statement etc.

Earlier, Ranjana Mishra, Director, DRDA and Social Welfare Department, inaugurating the branch, lauded the Bank for its various efforts towards economic empowerment of women. Of the 58branches of the Bank, Jamshedpur is the second branch in Jharkhand after Ranchi.
