Jamshedpur, May 2: May Day was celebrated at Loyola School, Telco honouring the spirit of labour and the dignity of work. The event was a tribute to the countless hands that build, serve, and sustain our community.
The celebration began with a warm welcome by the emcees, Neha and Harshit, who set the tone for a day filled with culture, gratitude, and reverence. A captivating welcome dance symbolizing joy and unity received enthusiastic applause, followed by a school prayer and prayer song that added spiritual depth and reflected the core values of Loyola.
A touching moment unfolded when students presented handmade cards to the Didis and Bhaiyas—an expression of heartfelt appreciation for their silent yet steadfast service. Head Boy Lakshya Verma and Head Girl Nirja Tiwari shared meaningful messages, acknowledging the invaluable role of labour and urging students to show respect through small acts of kindness toward the school’s unsung heroes.
The highlight of the day was a dance performance that illustrated the importance and history of May Day, stirring awareness and deep respect for the global labour movement. The atmosphere was one of celebration and gratitude as gifts were distributed to the school’s hardworking staff, bringing smiles and joy to all.
Father Gerry delivered a message on the value of service and the dignity of labour, reminding everyone that true greatness lay in serving others with humility and love. Kiran Didi also shared her thoughts, offering a compassionate reflection that inspired students to carry these values into their daily lives.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Principal, Charanjeet Ohson, who expressed deep gratitude to everyone involved—especially the Didis and Bhaiyas for their unwavering dedication. The ceremony culminated in the singing of the Loyola anthem, a proud reminder of the school’s legacy of excellence, compassion, and service.
The programme was a resounding success, carried out under the guidance of teachers Dipti Surin, Kanchan Hembrom, Laxmi Dubey, Anna Topno, Amandeep, Mariam Surin, and Vandana Bhaskar, along with the coordinators, the Principal, and with the wholehearted cooperation of Administrator Father Gerry.
