Jamshedpur, May 2: Acting on the initiative of West Jamshedpur MLA Saryu Roy, the installation of 2,000 solar street lights across the constituency is now underway under the supervision of JREDA (Jharkhand Renewable Energy Development Agency). The official launch of this large-scale project took place on Thursday at Gokul Nagar in Mango, where Saryu Roy personally inaugurated the first installation.
Speaking at the inauguration, MLA Roy highlighted the need for solar alternatives in areas where electricity poles are absent. “Several parts of the constituency lack electric poles, making it impossible to install conventional street lights. Hence, solar lights are the best solution for these regions, especially for slum areas where residents will benefit the most,” he stated.
The proposal for installing solar lights in the constituency was sent to JREDA and has received approval. Following this, JREDA has issued instructions to the designated contractor to begin work.
MLA Roy also urged residents of the West Assembly constituency to reach out if they require solar lights in their locality. “Citizens can contact my office through call or WhatsApp on 8877537777 to submit their request,” he added.
The initiative aims to enhance safety and improve living conditions in underserved neighbourhoods by providing reliable lighting through sustainable energy sources.
