Jamshedpur, Sep 12: A low pressure trough coupled with a depression in northern Bay of Bengal resulted in rainfall at the city. The rain that hit last night continued throughout the day.
According to the Met Office, the low pressure trough was extending from Madhya Pradesh to the Bay of Bengal crossing Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal. Moreover, the depression in the northern Bay of Bengal close to Kolkata has triggered widespread rain in the southern part of the state, especially those places which share a border with Bengal.
“The rainfall was due to the impact of the depression and the low pressure trough over the state. The intensity of rain will increase in the next 24-hours. Several parts of the state are expected to get moderate to rather heavy rainfall in the next 24-hours due to the impact of the depression which is going to hit Bangladesh this evening,” said the official.
