Kolhan University Senate Elections Scheduled for January 22

Revised Schedule and College List Issued

Jamshedpur: Kolhan University has announced that elections to its Senate will be held on January 22, 2026, following the issuance of two key notifications revising the election schedule and updating the list of representative colleges. The decisions were taken in line with resolutions adopted at the 6th Senate meeting held on January 5, 2026, and have been implemented with the approval of the Vice-Chancellor.

According to a notification issued by Registrar R. K. Karn, the revised election programme replaces the earlier schedule released in December 2025. University officials said the revision aims to ensure a smooth, transparent, and legally compliant election process across all Senate categories.

As per the updated timetable, January 9, 2026, has been fixed as the last date for submission of nomination papers. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on January 10, 2026, up to 4 pm, after which the list of eligible candidates will be finalised. Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations till January 15, 2026, up to 3 pm, and the final list of contesting candidates will be published on January 16, 2026.

The election process will conclude with the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected members on January 27, 2026, at 1 pm.

In a separate but related notification, Kolhan University has also released a revised list of representative colleges under Section 18(16)(a) of the JSU Act, 2000, which will be applicable for the ongoing Senate election process. The updated list includes Jamshedpur Co-operative Law College, Jamshedpur; J. L. N. College, Chakradharpur; Mahila College, Chaibasa; K. S. University authorities said the revision of the college list was carried out to ensure proper representation and strict adherence to statutory provisions. The updated list supersedes all earlier notifications.

The Registrar’s office has formally communicated both notifications to all concerned authorities, including the Officer on Special Duty to the Governor-cum-Chancellor of Jharkhand, the Secretary of the Department of Higher, Technical Education and Skill Development, Deans, Heads of University Departments, and Principals of constituent and affiliated colleges.

The twin notifications are being seen as a decisive administrative step by Kolhan University to strengthen transparency, accountability, and orderly governance. With the revised schedule and updated college list now in place, the university administration expects the Senate elections to be conducted in a fair and democratic manner.
