Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Women’s University celebrated an inspiring blend of wellness and awareness by hosting a 100-day countdown program for International Yoga Day (IDY) 2026. Under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ila Kumar, the university marked the 69th day of the series in collaboration with the Indian Yoga Association (IYA) Jharkhand Chapter and Gramin Upkar Sansthan, with support from the Ministry of AYUSH.
The event, held at the Bistupur campus, drew over 1,000 students, faculty, and staff members, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to holistic health.
Mass Yoga and Cultural Grace
The program began in the early morning with a ceremonial lamp lighting followed by a mass yoga demonstration. From 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, participants practiced asanas, pranayama, and meditation. A highlight of the session featured Yoga Department students who performed a graceful thematic dance depicting various yogic postures.
Chief Guest and MLA Saryu Roy emphasized the unifying essence of yoga and its growing global relevance. He urged the audience to integrate yoga into their daily lives for long-term well-being.
Workshop: Wellness, Wisdom, and World Peace
The second phase shifted to the Kharkai Auditorium for an afternoon awareness workshop. Academic leaders and health experts—including Registrar Dr. Salomi Kujur and IYA Secretary Amit Kumar—discussed the theme “Yoga for Wellness, Wisdom and World Peace.”
