Jamshedpur: The by-election process for three vacant positions in the Tata Motors Workers’ Union gained momentum on Monday as five candidates collected nomination forms. While the Axle Division seats appear headed for an unopposed victory, the ERC division is bracing for a competitive three-way race.
Following the official publication of the final voters’ list by Election Officer Chidanand Khandai, the nomination phase revealed varying levels of interest across the constituencies.
Division Breakdown: Unopposed vs. Contested
The by-elections cover three specific constituencies, with the following candidates stepping forward:
| Constituency | Division | Prospective Candidates | Status |
| 04 | Axle Division | Ravindra Kumar | Likely Unopposed |
| 05 | Axle Division | Singh B.K. | Likely Unopposed |
| 49 | ERC Division | Vishwanath Ghosh, Sunil Kumar Prasad, Samaresh Kumar | Contested |
In the Axle Division, only one candidate per seat collected papers. If their nominations pass the scrutiny phase, the union will declare them winners without a vote. Conversely, the ERC Division remains the focal point of the election, with three contenders vying for a single seat.
Next Steps in the Election Schedule
The election process will move rapidly over the next 24 hours:
- Nomination Submission: Candidates must submit their forms today, April 14, between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM at the old canteen counter within the Tata Motors premises.
- Scrutiny: Officials will scrutinize all submitted papers immediately after the 4:00 PM deadline.
- Candidate List: The union will publish the final list of valid candidates later this evening.
