Jamshedpur, October 21: The renowned and veteran Jharkhand journalist, Kavi Kumar has come up with a collection of incidents and happenings that he came face to face with through his 45 long and eventful years spanning his career as a journalist in the erstwhile East and West Singhbhum.

Famous for pursuing sensitive, highly volatile and sometimes ‘untouchable by other journalists’ types of issues, Kavi Kumar’s news presentations have opened the eyes of the world that otherwise would have remained unknown quantities. What many journalists feared to touch, Kavi Kumar did so with rare nonchalance. His collections of episodes in a book form that Kavi Kumar himself has published is equally eyebrow raising, ‘Danga Rajneeti and Trasdi.’

The incidents featured in ‘Danga Rajneeti and Trasdi’ touch upon issues that might the rare adrenalin flowing in old timers and make readers of the now-generation ponderous and leave them intrigued. The collections included reports of the firing incident on strikers at the then TISCO main gate, the fire incident of March 3 inside the Tata Steel main gate, the infamous Mango Bridge stampede, the blood curdling Head Hunt movement in Kolhan, the radiation issue in and around Jadugoda UCIL mines that Kavi Kumar was the first to reveal, serial murders of Tata Steel officials, The Mafia-Tata Steel nexus, Lalu Prasad-Tata Steel standoff, and the bitter Russi Mody-Dr JJ Irani controversy apart from the roles of Bihar and then Jharkhand leaders are soul searching and to some extent soul searing presentations in this book.

The collections do not end there. The communal riots of 1964 and 1979, the Kharangajhar and Ichagarh riots are gruesome reminders of how low man could stoop to. Moments and incidents in which journalists had to encounter unsavoury situations add to the appeal of this collection.

Popular journalist Surendra Kishore has mentioned in the foreword of ‘Danga Rajneeti and Trasdi’ that the book reveals Kavi Kumar as a daring journalist who continues to take huge risks to cover and unravel incidents. The author has dedicated his first publication to his late father, the famous journalist Ganga Prasad Kaushal and mother Sarla Kaushal.
