South Eastern Railway GM reviews Shalimar–Kharagpur section, emphasizes safety, infrastructure upgrade

Kharagpur: Anil Kumar Jain, General Manager of South Eastern Railway (SER), conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Shalimar–Kharagpur section, reaffirming the railway’s focus on safety, operational efficiency and passenger-oriented development.

The inspection began with a detailed window trailing exercise between Shalimar and Kharagpur stations, during which the General Manager closely examined track conditions, signaling systems, infrastructure maintenance and overall operational preparedness along the route.

Upon reaching Kharagpur Railway Station, Jain carried out an extensive review of passenger amenities and inspected the under-construction station building. He also visited the Route Relay Interlocking (RRI) system, assessing the performance and reliability of critical signaling infrastructure essential for safe train operations.

Later, he chaired a high-level review meeting at the DRM Conference Hall with DRM Kharagpur and senior divisional officers. The meeting focused on ongoing infrastructure projects, safety protocols, operational efficiency and passenger service improvements. He stressed the importance of timely project completion, strict safety compliance and continuous enhancement of passenger facilities.

Senior railway officials from the Kharagpur Division were present throughout the inspection and review process. The visit reflected South Eastern Railway’s continued efforts to modernize infrastructure and improve service quality for passengers.
