Seraikela, May 3: A group of 8-10 armed assailants killed one Kartik Gope alias Babu Gope in Satvahini Jamalpur under Adityapur police station area late Monday night.
The body of the deceased was recovered outside his house. It bore sharp and deep cuts. Cops sent the body to Seraikela government hospital for postmortem examination.
According to police, Gope had a criminal past and had been jailed in Ganpat Chouhan murder case in 2015. Gope was booked in several crime cases, police said.
Investigators suspect the murder to be the result of a gang rivalry. Gope was also a supplier of construction materials in the area. His main rival, Subhash Pramanik, led the assailants in yesterday’s incident, cops said.
