Karim City College Jamshedpur hosts special programme on World Emoji Day

Jamshedpur: To mark the occasion of World Emoji Day, a special programme was organised today by the Department of Mass Communication at Karim City College. The event aimed to highlight the growing importance of emojis in digital communication. Dr. B.N. Tripathi, Controller of Examinations at the college, graced the programme as the chief guest.

The event featured an insightful PowerPoint presentation by Semester 4 students Olivia Biswas and Azka Ahmed. Their joint presentation explored the meaning, signals, and social impact of various emojis commonly used across digital platforms. The duo explained how emojis have become integral to virtual conversations and can even alter the tone or interpretation of a message.

A poster-making competition was also conducted as part of the celebrations. Students Yash Bahl, Nitesh Singh, Farzan Khan, Devraj Mandal, Aditya Mahato, Aditi Pandey, Simran Kumari, Riya Singh, Lakshmi Muskan, Zarin, and Kulpreet Bhamra actively participated, showcasing creative interpretations of emojis and their role in modern communication.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Tripathi noted, “In today’s digital era, emojis are more than just icons—they are a universal language that helps express emotions across cultural and linguistic boundaries.”

Head of Department Dr. Neha Tiwari appreciated the creativity and enthusiasm shown by the students. “Such programmes enhance students’ understanding of digital expression while nurturing their creative and analytical skills,” she said.

Also present at the event were Dr. Rashmi Kumari, Syed Sajid Parvez, and Shahzeb Parvez, who extended their support to the students and encouraged more such initiatives in the future.
