Karate black belt grading, referee seminar held in Jamshedpur

Experts stress importance of self-defence and fitness

Jamshedpur, July 12: A Karate Black Belt Grading and Judge-Referee Seminar was organised in East Singhbhum on Sunday under the banner of the Global Shotokan Karate-Do Association of India (GSKAI). The programme was conducted by Shihan Tarak Nath Sardar, Chief Technical Director of the association, who holds a 6th Dan Black Belt from Japan. He is also an Asian Karate Federation referee and a World Karate Federation Judge/Referee Commission member.

The event was organised by the Global Shotokan Karate-Do Association of Jharkhand and hosted by its East Singhbhum unit. Sensei Shivam Kumar, Chief Instructor of GSKAJ and president of the Sports Karate Association of East Singhbhum, was the chief organiser.

Addressing the participants, Shivam Kumar said self-defence has become essential for everyone in today’s world. He said karate not only equips people with self-defence skills but also promotes physical fitness, mental strength and discipline.

He added that the association aims to take karate to every household so that girls and women can become confident and capable of protecting themselves. He also said karate has emerged as a popular competitive sport, bringing recognition to Jharkhand. The association, he said, remains committed to supporting initiatives promoting self-defence and youth development in the state.
