Kairav Gandhi Kidnapping: Five Arrested, Fortuner Recovered

Jamshedpur: Police have arrested five men in connection with the kidnapping of young entrepreneur Kairav Gandhi from the Bistupur CH area. Acting on leads, authorities recovered the Fortuner used in the abduction from Tejinder Pal Singh’s home in Ludhiana and a Pajero from Gaya belonging to Rupesh Paswan.

SSP Piyush Pandey confirmed that six suspects had been previously arrested. The new arrests were made in Ludhiana, Sheikhpura, Delhi, and Kolkata.

  • Santosh Kumar – Ghaziabad, Delhi
  • Rajkaran Yadav – Sheikhpura

Police also seized five mobile phones from the arrested men. Amarinder Singh played a key role as a co-conspirator.

Six Months of Planning

The gang had been tracking Kairav Gandhi for six months. They rented a house in Sakchi to monitor his daily routine. On the day of the abduction, Amarinder Singh, Guddu Singh, Imran, Rameez, and others wore police uniforms to carry out the kidnapping.

They first kidnapped Gandhi in a Scorpio on Kadma-Sonari Link Road. Then they moved him to another car driven by Manpreet Singh. Gurdit Sher Singh later left for Kolkata, while the rest took Gandhi to Dobhi and then to Bisar village in Gayaji.

Use of Fake Vehicles and Identities

The gang used the license plate of businessman Sandeep Malhotra’s Fortuner to avoid detection. Amarinder Singh posed as a DIG, and his accomplices wore constable uniforms.

The gang also used cyber skills to contact Gandhi’s family using fake Indonesian numbers via VPN.

Previous Crimes and Targets

Tejinder Pal Singh, the main conspirator, has a history of kidnappings. He typically targeted children from affluent families. He monitored them at schools, colleges, clubs, and other locations before abducting them for ransom. Gandhi’s movements were under constant surveillance by the gang.

Police Action and Vehicle Recovery

The police investigation led to the arrests of Amarinder Singh, Manpreet Singh, Gurdit Sher Singh, Santosh Kumar, and Rajkaran Yadav. The Fortuner and Pajero used in the kidnapping were recovered. Police continue to investigate other gang members.
