Govt Approves ₹153 Cr Bus Terminus & Commercial Complex in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: The state government approved the construction of a commercial complex and an Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) near Dimna Chowk in Mango. The government estimates the ambitious project will cost ₹153.37 crore and cover 13 acres. Officials expect the development to improve transport facilities significantly and boost the city’s economic activity.

The cabinet approved during a meeting on Wednesday. The Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Company (JUDCO) will execute the project, using a specialized architectural design from a Karnataka-based agency. The complex will also house the Water Resources Department office.

Officials stated the proposed structure will feature a five-storey (G+3) building with two dedicated parking basements. The facility will accommodate 50 buses, 300 cars, and 350 two-wheelers, while 23 bus bays will ensure smooth vehicle movement.

The project focuses heavily on passenger convenience. The ISBT will offer 18 ticket counters, air-conditioned waiting halls, a food court, and dedicated dormitories for both passengers and bus drivers. Additionally, the plans include a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and a Water Treatment Plant (WTP) to ensure environmental sustainability and hygiene.

Officials believe the new ISBT will resolve long-standing traffic congestion caused by the lack of a centralized bus terminal. By integrating transport services with commercial and administrative spaces, the project aims to streamline operations, enhance the commuter experience, and accelerate development throughout the Mango-Dimna corridor.
