Jamshedpur, Nov 17: Jugsalai Nagar Parishad and Kapali Nagar Parishad seats have been reserved for women candidates. A notification was issued by the state Election Commission on Thursday.
Several local women are now reportedly preparing to contest the municipal elections. The wives of few well known local politicians may also jump in the fray.
The municipal elections are being held on 20 seats across the state. Several local people have opposed the move saying the seat should be kept unreserved as it would restrict many suitable male candidates from contesting the polls.
