Jamshedpur: Members of Anand Marg Pracharak Sangh, Jamshedpur, have written to the President and the Prime Minister of India demanding a judicial probe into Vijan Setu murder case dating back to 30th April 1982.
They said the culprits of the case involving the brutal murder of 17 ascetics some 35 years back should be subjected to harshest possible punishment following a fair probe into the sensational crime.
The incident had taken place in Tollygunj area of Kolkata in West Bengal. CPI (M) activists had allegedly killed the 17 ascetics at 6 am over Vijan Setu Bridge in broad daylight.
Anand Margis alleged that the then Left government had ordered the elimination of the victims after being afraid of the growing popularity of Anand Marga followers.
The outfit members said that the successive governments in West Bengal could not take the case to its logical conclusion.
The Mamata Banerjee led government had only formed a one member probe committee but nothing occurred till date, they said, adding that even the National Human Rights Commission had failed to take action in the case.
