Security beefed up at Jamshedpur police office, gates closed in evening

Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum police here on Friday beefed up security at its Sakchi-based district headquarters, leading to speculations about the sudden change in its approach to the security of police infrastructure. Visitors to the police office were frisked by cops equipped with metal detectors before being allowed entry.

Sources claimed that the security was beefed up in the evening with the entry and exit gates leading to the police office getting shut by the cops on duty. Unlike before, when the gates were often left open even late in the evening and till late night, today the gates were closed, surprising many and giving reason for speculating about the reason behind such a decision.

In what could be a possible link to the change of its take on security, district police authorities stepped up patrolling in Naxalite-infested areas of East Singhbhum, especially those in Gudabandha, Dumaria, Ghatsila, Shyamsunderpur, Chakulia, Dhalbhumgarh, Patamada and Baharagora. The security was strengthened after the killing of 25 CRPF personnel in Sukma district of Chhatisgarh a few days back, sources said.

Although none of the police authorities has spoken yet about the security beef-up, much can be inferred from the way the security of the police office is being dealt with by the department.
