Jharkhand will bid to host the 2017 Asian Athletics games: CM

Ranchi, Sept 28: Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Monday gave his approval to bid for hosting the 22nd Asian Athletics Championship 2017.

Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that the Asian Athletics games 2017 in which 45 countries will participate will be held in Jharkhand. We will endeavor to conduct it successfully. Jharkhand will be India’s sole representative in the bidding process.

He said that the players of our country and state should endeavor to bring laurels home and glorify their state and country.

He said that the govt. has decided to appoint the medal winners directly with the govt. departments, there are ample possibilities in sports and they should be encouraged to make their career in this field.

He said that the govt. is thinking to increase the cash award given to the medal winners also. He said it while inaugurating the 27th Three Day East Regional Junior National Athletics Games at Deoghar.

Raghubar Das said that tuning with the ideas of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state effort fully tries to provide good infrastructure & better coaches to the players.

He said that the players of the stature like Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Miss. Deepika and the female hockey players of Lohardaga have made the nation proud.

He welcomed the players of different states of the nation in Jharkhand and wished them all the best hoping that they will make the nation proud. He said that gradually Jharkhand and the neighboring states are making their mark in sports.

He appealed to the promising players of the state to make their career in sports since the govt. plans to provide them with govt. job.

He said that the govt. has opened sports academy and sports universities where 1400 students, along with perusing their studies, can be trained by expert coaches.

The Labour Exchange Minister- cum-Chairman, Jharkhand Athletics Association Mr. Raj Paliwar, Agriculture Minister Mr. Randhir Singh and others were present.

Hack & field, long jump, high jump etc. events will be conducted in two different stadiums of Deoghar in the three day competition starting from 28th September (till 30th September).
