Jharkhand tourism stall pulls large crowds at IITF

Ranchi, Nov. 23: The Jharkhand pavilion at the IITF, New Delhi, buzzed with visitors on Monday. The visitors crowded the tourism stall making enquiries.

Surrounded by lush green hills, Jharkhand is renowned for its rich mineral wealth, untouched beauty of the wooded forest, amazing wild life, and magnificent waterfalls. The rich and diverse culture and breathtaking scenic splendor of Jharkhand draws large number of tourists every year.

Ranchi is known as city of waterfalls. It has four major and five minor falls of which the Hundru Fall is the highest (98meter). Dasam is yet another important fall and is famous for convergence of 10 different streams.

World famous Parasnath temple of the Jain community is situated in Jharkhand and it attracts local as well as foreign tourists. According to tradition, the area was named after the 23rd Jain Tirthankara Parsvanath, who attained salvation here. Apart from this, the Chhinamasta Temple at Rajrappa, Maluti Temple, and the Parasnath Temple are major centres of attraction.

Deogarh ranks first in terms of attracting the number of tourists coming to Jharkhand. The annual Shravani Mela held here is very popular.

The visitors at the IITF are also attracted by the adventure tourism of the Jharkhand government. Adventure tourism includes rafting, gliding, trekking etc. The Sky car or ropeway on Trikut Hills near Deogarh is considered to be the best in India.

The most novel feature of Jharkhand tourism is the recently launched eco-tourism. It is being touted as the first of its kind in India.

Alok Prasad, deputy general manager of the Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation, said that the state government is making new tourism policy in Jharkhand. �We are working to develop rural tourism in Jharkhand and the development of Maluti Temple.�

The department is offering 10 percent discount to anyone who books a trip to any of the tourist centers in Jharkhand in the trade fair.
