Jharkhand notifies Bhumij as second state language

Jamshedpur: State government Friday notified Bhumij language as the second Rajbhasha (state language) of Jharkhand. The Principal Secretary cum Legal Advisor of Jharkhand government�s Legal Department issued the notification.

Buoyed over the news, members of Bhumij community thanked Potka MLA and senior BJP leader Menka Sardar for her contributions in getting government�s nod for according second state language status to Bhumij. Sardar had raised the demand for giving second state language status to Bhumij in the Jharkhand Assembly. She had also met Chief Minister Raghubar Das and discussed the demand several times. This led the state Cabinet to give approval to the demand and issue the notification eventually.

In view of the notification, members of Bhumij community reached Hata to meet the Potka MLA. The community leaders garlanded a statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda at Hata Chowk and congratulated the MLA. They said the Raghubar Das government had fulfilled their demand.

Among those present on this occasion included Dinesh Sardar, Jiten Sardar, Mangal Sardar, Muchiram Sardar, Ravindra Sardar and Sripati Sardar.
