Jharkhand Karatekas clinch 25 medals, including 2 gold at International Karate Competition

Chaibasa, June 7: A 14-member Jharkhand team showcased its prowess at the International Shotokan Karate Competition held in Gokarneshwar Municipality Kathmandu, Nepal. Competing against participants from various countries including Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Bhutan, the Jharkhand team demonstrated exceptional skill, securing a total of 25 medals in the two-day event.

The Jharkhand contingent, comprising boys and girls across different age groups, performed remarkably claiming 2 gold and 7 silver medals. Additionally, they earned bronze medals in various categories, reaffirming their talent and dedication to the sport.

Upon their return to Chakradharpur on Friday, the triumphant players were warmly welcomed by Sensei Ankita Shil at Pawan Chowk. The players were garlanded and treated to sweets in recognition of their outstanding achievement on the international stage.

The medal winners included Sushant Mardi and Anshuman Barik

(Gold) M Vijay Kumar, Sujal Mahato, Sumit Bari, Manmeet Singh, Shivani Purty, Supriya Singh (Silver) and Sushant Mardi, Simran Soy, Alice Gagarai, Anisha Tamsoy, Sanjana Devgam, Supriya Singh, Sania Kuntia, Aastha Mahato, Shivani Purty, Anshuman Barik, Manmeet Singh, Sujal Mahato and Sumit Bari (Bronze).
