Ranchi, Dec 6: The Hemant Soren government has launched the Guruji Credit Card Scheme to support students in pursuing higher education without financial hurdles. Under this scheme, students can avail loans of up to Rs 15 lakh, with Rs 4 lakh offered interest-free. The initiative is aimed at ensuring that economic constraints do not obstruct educational aspirations. To qualify, students must be residents of Jharkhand and have completed Class 12 from a recognized school or college in the state.
The application process is designed to be simple and accessible. Students can apply online by visiting the official website gscc.jharkhand.gov.in. The process involves registering, filling in the required details, and submitting necessary documents, including Aadhaar card, residential certificate, ration card, income certificate, caste certificate, and passport-sized photographs. Bank account details, a mobile number, and an email ID are also mandatory.
The government has also made provisions for those who have already taken loans from banks. Students can now avail of the Guruji Credit Card Scheme by closing their previous loans and obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their bank. This enables them to access fresh loans of up to Rs 15 lakh under the scheme.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren emphasized the importance of education as a transformative tool, stating, “This scheme is a step towards empowering our youth to achieve their dreams without financial constraints. An educated society is the foundation of a prosperous Jharkhand.” The program aims to ensure that no student’s ambition is left unfulfilled due to a lack of resources, reinforcing the government’s commitment to accessible education for all.
