Ranchi, January 14: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren will kick-off the second phase of the ‘Khatiyani Johar Yatra’, to mark three years of UPA government in the state, on January 17, a senior JMM leader said on Saturday.
The second leg has been planned with focus on Kolhan region comprising three districts of West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan and East Singhbhum and also Giridih which was in news recently over controversy on Parasnath Hills being declared a place of tourist interest.
As per the itinerary of second phase of Khatiyani Johar Yatra announced by JMM central general secretary Vinod Pandey on Friday evening, the yatra will kick off from Koderma on January 17, followed by Giridih on January 18, Simdega on January 23, Chaibasa on January 24, Seraikela-Kharsawan on January 31 and East Singhbhum on January 31.
The JMM-Congress-RJD combine will jointly take out the yatra covering six districts — Koderma, Giridih, Simdega, West Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharswan and East Singhbhum — in the second phase, which would conclude on January 31, he said.
The focus is on Kolhan region as Union home minister and BJP poll strategist, Amit Shah had launched party’s 2024 Lok Sabha election campaign earlier this month (January 7) from Chaibasa and challenged that this time they would be winning all 14 Lok Sabha seats.
“After the huge success of the first phase, we are starting the second round from January 17,” said Vinod Kumar Pandey, JMM spokesperson and party general secretary.
The first phase, which had covered six districts — Garhwa, Palamu, Gumla, Godda, Deoghar and Lohardaga — began on December 8 and concluded on December 16 ahead of the winter session of the Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha.
Pandey said as part of the yatra, the CM will address public meetings and highlight how his government is fulfilling promises made to people.
“Soren will also review the progress of development work in the respective districts and take the feedback of people,” he said.
Party workers and MLAs from Seraikela-Kharsawan, East Singhbhum held a meeting at party’s headquarters in Ranchi on Friday to chalk out strategies to make the yatra’s second phase a success, Pandey added.
