Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy has called for the Health Minister’s dismissal due to the deteriorating conditions at MGM Hospital. During a recent inspection of ongoing development projects, Roy expressed grave concerns over the hospital’s worsening state. He accused the Health Minister of prioritizing personal interests over public health, urging the Chief Minister to remove him from office.

Roy announced that the water treatment plant in Oxygen Colony, Bhuiyandih, is ready and will begin supplying water to households by the end of September. He also noted that pipe-laying work is set to start in Babudih and Lal Bhatta, with water supply expected to reach Jojobera homes this month. Additionally, Roy highlighted that road construction work is progressing ahead of the Litti Chowk bridge project.
The MLA further criticized the Health Minister for allowing a representative to run a parallel office at MGM Hospital, contributing to its decline. Patients are reportedly being treated on the floor in overcrowded emergency and ward areas, with 50 beds handling 80 patients. Roy also pointed out that a new 500-bed hospital building remains non-operational due to inadequate water supply arrangements. He urged the government to bring water from Chandil Dam through Dimna Lake to the hospital, a proposal he had raised in the last monsoon session of the Assembly.
Roy concluded by emphasizing that the Health Minister’s failure to address the water supply issue has exacerbated the burden on the old MGM hospital. He reiterated his demand for immediate action from the Chief Minister to remove the Health Minister, who he believes has failed to act in the public’s interest.
80 patients in 50-bed emergency
Jamshedpur: The situation at MGM Hospital has become dire, with 80 patients occupying 50 beds in the emergency department, according to the hospital superintendent. On a recent day, 1,800 patients visited the outpatient department, further straining the hospital’s resources. The overcrowding extends to various wards, highlighting the urgent need for additional facilities.
MLA Saryu Roy has called for immediate action from the government to address the crisis. He proposed bringing water from Chandil Dam to the hospital through Dimna Lake, a measure he previously raised in the Assembly but was met with silence from the Health Minister. Roy criticized the minister for focusing solely on constructing the hospital building without arranging essential resources like water. He argued that the Health Minister’s lack of concern for operational issues undermines the effectiveness of the hospital and called for the Chief Minister to dismiss him from office.
