Silver medalist Karnisha meets JWU VC
Jamshedpur: Twelve karatekas of All India Goju Ryu Karate Do Federation performed brilliantly in the South Asian Open International Karate Championship held at Dashrath Indoor Stadium, Kathmandu, from August 28 to 30, 2024.
Organized by the Nepal Goju Ryu Karate Association and the Nepal Karate Federation—both affiliated with the Nepal Olympic Association and the World Karate Federation—the championship was inaugurated by Sri Tanka Lal Ghising, Member Secretary of the National Sports Council of Nepal. Shihan B. R. Mitra, a referee from the World Karate Federation, was the organizing Secretary, and the event was overseen by 15 referees and judges from the Asian Karate Federation.

Indian participants delivered an impressive performance with notable achievements:
Avinash Raj: Gold Medal in Junior Boys Kata; Silver Medal in Kumite. Yashasvi Yadav: Gold Medal in Junior Girls Kumite; Silver Medal in Team Kata. Karnisha Das: Silver Medal in Senior Girls Team Kata; Bronze Medal in Kumite. Simran Kumari: Silver Medal in Senior Girls Kumite; Silver Medal in Team Kata. Sagar Kumar: Bronze Medal in Senior Boys Below 18 Years Kata.
MD Fahim Alam: Bronze Medal in Senior Boys Over 18 Years Kata. Yash Kumar: Silver Medal in Senior Boys Over 18 Years Kata.
Sensei Niraj Kumar, the coach of the Indian team, received a Certificate and Memento for his contributions. Additionally, Shihan Nageshwar Rao was honored with a memento presented by Sri Tanka Lal Ghising.
Karnisha Das shared her achievements with Prof. (Dr.)Anjila Gupta, Vice Chancellor of Jamshedpur Women’s University, who expressed her pleasure and confirmed that Karnisha will represent the university in the upcoming University Karate Games.
Dr. Gupta also informed Dr. Sanatan Deep, Chairman of the Sports & Culture Department at Jamshedpur Women’s University, about Das’s accomplishments.
